Kevyn Timmons
Occupational Therapist
My name is Kevyn, I am the occupational therapist with the Renfrew Big Horn Health Team.
Occupational therapists support people with doing things that are meaningful to them. A
person’s “occupations” can be anything that “occupies” their time. For adults, this
includes things like working at a job, fishing, hunting, taking care of children, gardening,
playing sports, painting, etc. For kids, their “occupations” are often playing, learning at
school, socializing and developing independence with skills such as eating, getting
dressed, and toilet training.
Some areas I can support in include:
- Accessing equipment to make daily routines easier (wheelchairs, walkers, home safety equipment, splints)
- Fine motor skills such as printing, using scissors, tying shoelaces, doing up zippers/buttons
- Self-care skills such as toileting, eating with a fork and spoon, and brushing teeth
- Learning about how your child notices and responds to sensations in everyday life, like touch, sound, smell, taste and movement
- Learning to understand and manage emotions and develop healthy coping strategies
- Mental health support
We can meet at the health centre, band office, school, or in the comfort of your own
home!
